The concept of this piece was an interplay between the sounds of human cultural activities and natural environment sounds (including sounds such as animal and/or bird cries and echo sounds). The word “Her” in the title is an intended pun for “Heritage.” There was a challenge, though. The concept of this piece was not to sound like a mash-up patchwork of field recordings and loops or, maybe even worse, a pastiche of lovely and/or interesting sounds found in the vast variety of the Freesound tank. The challenge was that in some way this piece should sound like a “proper” song. A kind of experimental song, maybe, but a song nevertheless. To this purpose, 12 samples from Freesound were pre-selected and then I ventured to work with them. When the piece started to take a recognizable shape and I started to have an idea of what elements were missing, another set of sounds was selected. This time around, this second set of 10 samples was selected in a target-like manner. I was searching for certain kinds of sounds that would fit the bill and could provide the element that I believed was missing. The search was limited to one certain kind of sound at the time. The Freesound search engine worked brilliantly, and … goal achieved, and the song is ready!

Artist bio
Composer, active in recording since 1999 to the present. He also composes music for theater, children's theater, mixed shows, short films, and television, most recently participating in the composition of the music for the series Afti I Nychta Meni (season 2022-2023, Alpha TV, Greece) and composing the Main Titles theme and all the music themes of “Mavroi Pinakes” (season 2023-2024, Star Channel, Greece) In addition to his work as a composer, he has also worked in television as a music supervisor in more than 200 episodes of many Greek TV shows. His most recent work in discography is the songs he wrote for the album Larymna by Maria Latsinou Mokita, which he also produced (April 2018). He is also active as a producer and/or arranger on albums by other artists. His most recent production is the debut album by singer-songwriter Iraklis Daitsis (2025).
